High nuclear reactors space damage but earth's components also do. Semiconductors are radiation-sensitive, hence need shielding. operation performance of devices affected by these effects. type, energy, flux, exposure period affect damage. Gamma rays neutrons indirect ionizing radiation. These beams harm silicon-based semiconductors like transistors. can semiconductors, ICs. As a result displacement radiation, degrade in three devices. Insulator traps charge. (2) minor carrier recombination modifications Various-energy particles generate different ionization In research effects consequences, it's vital to look at how integrated circuits. hardening decreases renders electronics or non-ionizing radiation-resistant. To assure appropriate operation, IC, sensor, military aircraft makers adopted hardening.
